Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Veiled (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a messaging service available through mobile applications and related properties, including this site at veiled.to. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our Service. By using Veiled, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and profile. Details you provide when creating or maintaining an account (for example, name, username, profile photo, bio, and contact identifiers used for sign-in).
  • Messages and content. Content you send or receive through the Service, such as messages, files, and media, as needed to deliver chats and groups.
  • Contacts and social graph. Information you choose to import or connect (for example, contact discovery), where that feature is offered and you opt in.
  • Device and technical data. Information such as device type, operating system, app version, approximate locale or time zone, and diagnostic logs limited to what we need to operate and secure the Service.
  • Approximate location (when you allow it). If you grant location access, we may use coarse or device-reported location for security and integrity purposes — for example account verification, fraud and spam prevention, and detecting abusive sign-up patterns. It is not used to track your day-to-day movements or for advertising. You can turn location off in your device settings; some optional steps in the app may ask for it when we need it for those protections.
  • Communications with us. Messages you send to support or feedback channels.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • Authenticate accounts and prevent fraud or abuse (including using permitted location signals where relevant for security);
  • Deliver messages, notifications, and in-app features you request;
  • Operate security monitoring, debugging, and reliability (including minimal operational logging);
  • Respond to your requests and provide support;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Veiled is not an advertising business. We do not sell your message content for ad targeting, and we do not build behavioral profiles for third-party advertising as part of the Service.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

If laws such as the GDPR apply, we may rely on one or more of: contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security and product improvement, balanced against your rights), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation.

5. Sharing and subprocessors

We may share information with service providers who assist us (for example, hosting, messaging infrastructure, analytics limited to service operation, or customer support tools), subject to confidentiality and data-processing terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition, as permitted by law.

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. Data between the app and our servers is transmitted using TLS encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we work to follow industry practices appropriate to the Service.

7. Retention

We retain information only as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods can vary by data type and feature; some server logs may be kept for a limited time for security and operations.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain information, or to object to or restrict some processing. You can manage many settings inside the app. To exercise other rights, contact us using the email below. You may also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of those laws.

10. International transfers

If you use the Service from outside the country where we operate servers, your information may be processed in countries that have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice as required by law or through the app.
